Africa, Europe sees luxury in MobyDuct 15-11-06

It was never going to take very long for the world to see the value in MobyDuct. Perhaps the word ‘value’ doesn't even do it justice.  Maybe the term we should use is ‘luxury’?

MobyDuct more or less is a luxury.  For decades, mine and tunnelling managers have for whatever reason simply put up with rigid ventilation ducts and as sure enough as the sun would rise each day, heavy excavation equipment would bump into it and cause it damage.

Now, virtually overnight, engineers are being less rigid with the rigid and more flexible with flexible!

So those managers in underground mining projects and tunnelling construction admitting to being too afraid to take a step and use this technology because hardly anybody else in Australia and New Zealand is, consider the following:

‘Practical’, ‘safer’, ‘harder to damage’, and ‘relocatable’ are some of the terms being applied to Eximo's MobyDuct ventilation technology in applications overseas.

This collapsible and reusable ducting system for tunnels and underground mines has quickly been adopted by mine and tunnel building management in world regions including Africa and Europe.

In South Africa, several mining companies have been quick to seize on the high-usability of the product have done away with rigid ducting alternatives.

And now, just about every tunnelling project that begins in Europe is using MobyDuct purely because it eclipses safety and practicality factors of market alternatives.

The product is now fully approved by the NSW Dept of Mines for underground use – a national standard.

Ventilation ducting in tunnels and underground mines has always faced the negative prospect of being bumped by earthmoving equipment and therefore damaged - this is because before the advent of MobyDuct, the only option was to use rigid ducting.

Specifically designed for the very heavy industries, MobyDuct has the exact properties required by sectors such as mining and tunnelling which rely upon high-performance for results and upkeep of extreme safety measures.

This product is not just antistatic and flame retardant, it has a wide temperature resistance ranging from 0°C right up to 50°C.

Engineers and project managers on mines and major tunnelling projects need to be reassured that workers in underground conditions can be provided with uninterrupted ventilation, which puts the onus onto our product to perform without failure.

Eximo now carries stocks of MobyDuct to ensure fast availability as underground projects cannot afford waiting times for any aspect of their operation.

Any delays lead not only to profit losses; it would basically stall an entire operation as there is no way workers would be expected to work in subterranean areas without proper ventilation systems in place.

MobyDuct is available in diameters ranging from 600mm to 1800mm. The product is available with suspension strip, hooks and wires, and is also supplied with cuff couplings or end rings. It is available in ‘lay-flat’ (blowing) and semi-rigid, with helix (vacuum).

All items in the MobyDuct range are available in 5m lengths and 10m lengths.

Although the large proportion of requests are made for MobyDuct to be supplied in yellow colour, other colours are available to order. Most enquiries are for the antistatic black version.

The antistatic, lightweight, flame retardant and rot resistant properties of the product ensure it performs to its maximum capacity over an extremely long lifespan.
