We had better correct ourselves on electricity

May 2008

It seems like we misled you somewhat on the energy issue, but we have absolutely no remorse over it.

Turns out our predictions on the inevitable cost hikes of electricity were wrong.

With all the announcements by State governments around Australia in recent months, it is quite clear the cost hikes are expected to be even higher than we first thought!!!!

Eximo became vocal about it when out Optiflow development became a technological reality. Now that we know electricity prices will keep escalating around Australia we are more than vindicated in our drive to introduce new technologies for better than ever efficiencies.

It is in the interests of all industrial markets that suppliers to this widespread sector adopt outlooks for technologies that are more energy efficient and more beneficial to the environment.

Energy-efficient and environmentally responsible products used to represent a double-edged sword for suppliers to industry because of the extra costs of setting up to facilitate it.

But we read the market well enough to identify that this is now a very significant ‘dollars and cents’ issue in the air quality and ducting sector, where eco-friendly and energy-efficient products add to the bottom line of our clients’ performance.

For the best part of a the year, we have been revamping not just our distribution lines, but the type of products that we can supply to various industrial markets and much of our R&D has been planned with a view to supplying energy-efficient technologies.

If suppliers to all types of industries are brave enough to take this step and invest in the initial set-up, R&D and distribution platform, the results will speak for themselves as Australian is now mature enough to do the right thing by itself and the general public.

In the large ducting systems solution sector, Eximo can lay claim to introducing the Optiflow technology which greatly reduces energy absorption through ‘negative pressure’ chambers, as opposed to the more costly, ‘positive pressure’ associated with ducted removal of gases, fumes and dusts.

This initial move triggered a general advancement where we examined all our product lines, and through R&D developed even better alternatives to what we already stocked.

Reducing cones, diverters, fans and extractors, material composition of both the flexible and solid ducting - all were re-engineered to ensure they can run at optimum and on even less energy.

In association with dust control specialist, Donaldson Australasia, we have now introduced energy-efficient modular bag house dust collectors, fans, filtration technology and other products, many of which have optional inverter technology that uses less electricity.

In no way are we predicting doomsday and as far as energy costs go, it's just that we are fully aware that businesses implementing technologies that utilise electricity more efficiently are not just benefiting the environment, they are lowering their own running costs.

And looking at the way electricity prices have been rising in the last 12 to 18 months alone, something had to be done; and we believe our changes are very positive for not just the industrial sector but Australian society in general.
